Front Foyer
This is bright open entrance foyer and hall is a mix of the traditional and the contempory! The floor is slate and earth tones, white wainscotting climbs the staircase to the second floor, and the room features an abundance of custom decorative trim and crown mouldings. There are two large side lights on either side of the front door, and extra light is created from the ceiling pot lights and the wall sconces.
Living Room
Seen from the entrance hall, the Living Room is large and boasts an elegant marble fireplace with tile hearth, glass doors and iron surround. The hardwood strip flooring is dark stained oak, and plaster valances and crown mouldings are orginal. Two wall sconces add accent lighting to both sides of the fireplace.
The Living Room and Dining Room hardwood floors were stained and refinished earlier this year, in 2011.
All of the windows in this home are unusally large! Here in the Living Room there are two lovely deep windows to bring in the afternoon sunshine.
Dining Room
This separate formal room is richly painted, located off the kitchen, or is entered from the Living Room through double French doors. The floors are dark stained oak matching the Living Room floors, and we also have the same plaster curtain valances and crown mouldings. Note the huge picture windows overlooking the back garden with the faux mullion window frames.
The Kitchen
The Kitchen was custom built in 1991 with light honey oak cabinets and cupboards in the Colonial style, and the cork floor was installed in about 2001. There are many useful and attractive decorative features including sliding pot drawers, knife drawer, pantry, etc. There is a double sink, extendable facet, Corian edged counters with tile backsplash, and undercounter lighting.
The kitchen appliances consist of a built in Jenn-Air oven and range, with glass cook top and vented retractable range hood, a KitcheAid dishwasher, and a Maytag side by side fridge, about 2008, with filtered water and ice dispenser.
There is plenty of room for a much larger table for a young family here, and the sliding glass door walkout leads right to the patio and deck for summer entertaining.
Family Room
The other principle entertaining room on the main floor is the ample Family Room. With it's dark stained oak parquet floors and painted beamed ceiling, this cheerful room features a stone fireplace with raised hearth.
This room has almost wall to wall windows! There is an extra wide triple pane glass sliding door walkout to the deck and pergola. Note again the plaster window curtain valances, and the attractive light fixture and ceiling fan. Most of the rooms are professionally painted in tasteful earth tones.
The Main Floor Powder Room
This is quite a spacious powder room. The floors are slate as in the front foyer and hall, and the walls are attractively painted in a two tone theme.
Main Floor Laundry Room
This side door provides a good access from the back door of the garage, or the side of the house. There is a double clothes closet, vynal floor, lots of cupboard space, large laundry tub and matching white washer and dryer. The contemporary glass door has its match on the kitchen door leading to the front foyer.
Please note the contemporary glass door on the main floor as you enter the kitchen from the front foyer. There is another identical glass door as you enter the laundry room.
The Upper Landing
The upper landing is a large space, bright and attractive! There is room for pieces of furnature and the house has a pleasant spacious feeling thanks to it! The flooring is a contemporary broadloom, a California Shutter filters light from the window, and there are ceiling pot lights and an elegant foyer chandeliere.
Master Bedroom Closet
The walk in clothes closet in the Master Bedroom is large enough for a dresser, and features built in shelves, and oak floors.
The Master Bedroom
The Master Bedroom is like it's own private suite. Entered by a separate hall and foyer, it offer a bit more quiet from the other bedrooms. The three large traditional windows house Levolor window blinds installed in 2011.
The Master Bedroom suite is large enough for sleeping and sitting spaces, with sparkling recent light oak hardwood floors, walk in closet, and "Hampton Bay Quiet" light fixture, ceiling fan, and remote.
The Bathroom Ensuite the Master Bedroom
This bathroom has been tastefully updated with ceramic floor, a tile with a simple pattern, heat lamp, pot lights, a large practical medicine cabinet, and rain shower head.
Master Bedroom Foyer
Well lit with its own window this hallway from the upper landing to the Master Bedroom allows for maximum privacy and noise reduction if required. Here is another double clothes closet, which can be used as another linen closet. I think it's a very sensible design feature that the ensuite bathroom is actually in this separte room, and not in the Master Bedroom.
Second Bedroom
All of the Bedrooms are an excellent size! Each has hardwood floors and double clothes closets, and two of the bedrooms (excluding the Master Bedroom) also have linen closets. All have very generous windows with custom window treatments.
The Main Four Piece Bathroom
Updated in 2000, with ceramic floors, Hunter Douglas wood Venetian blinds, and walk in shower with glass shower doors, the extra large vanity has double His and Hers sinks. The is also an adjustable shower bar with rain shower head, ceiling heat lamp, and pot lights.
The Fifth Bedroom
All of the five bedrooms are located on the second level. This large room has plenty of room for sleeping, working, and relaxing!
Basement Bedroom
Completey finished, cozy, dry and warm! With ceiling pot lights and broadloom, this is the room with the breaker panel boxes. The basement renovations were done in 2003, and all of the basement windows were replaced at that time. As well as many finished rooms, there are also 4 closets, pantry, storage room, and large furnace room. The furnace room is drywalled on 3 walls and insulated, plus there is a direct vent exhaust hood for a hobby room or work shop.
Basement Kitchenette
All of the extensive basment renovations were done in 2003. In 2001 the back and two sides of the house were dug down and waterproofed, and now the basement is an excellent living space! Here is the central foyer area at the bottom of the stairs, with small, modern kitchen and sink. The Owners have an extra fridge here, pantry, and there is plenty of room for a table. The laminate floor is heated.
Three Piece Washroom
Just beside the basement bedroom and across from a very nice little foyer area, is the three piece washroom. Tastefully done in a modern clean white tile, this bathroom is not cramped or cold, has a large linen closet, spacious tiled shower stall with built in seat and glass shower doors, safety bar, and vanity.
The Recreation Room
Currently used as the Home Office, you can easily see this room used as the family TV or entertainment room. The floor is a nice medium oak coloured laminate, and the room is bright with many pot lights. A large double closet can be seen here for extra storeage space.
There is modern gas fireplace in the Recreation Room, which, due to it's clean, simple lines, is a nice change from the other two more traditional fireplaces in the Living Room and the Family Room.
Garden Pergola
In 2001 most of the back and side yard landscaping was done: waterproofing of the back and sides of the exterior basement walls, the back and side decks, pergola and bench, and the new wood fence on the north side. See the charming gate with wrought iron decorative insert on the north side of the house. There is a capped natural gas barbaque feed by the back porch if required.
The Inground Pool
What a lovely, sparkling pool! Privacy and sunshine! This free form pool is heated by the indoor heat pump, and is about 30 feet by 16.5 feet wide, with half moon steps & built in bench in the shallow end. In 2009 the pool was remarblited and a new blue tile border was installed. With the pavers, decking, and landscaping the effect is first class!
Pool Shed
This little house encloses the pool equipment, cover, pool toys, etc. It has been charmingly painted to blend into your summer garden foilage. Note the pool is heated by the indoor heat pump which is in the furnace room. The heat pump also acts as the air conditioner.
Gorgeous sideyard landscaping with interlocking pavers and small deck at the side door to the Laundry Room.
A Lovely Inground Swimming Pool!
This free form pool is delightful, a pleasure to swim in, and just to look at! It is about 30 feet by 16.5 feet, with an excellent depth on the south side, and a built in seat and half moon steps on the north side in the shallow end. The pool was remarblited in 2009 and the beautiful blue tile border was also added at that time.
The pool is heated by the indoor heat pump which is attached to the forced air house furnace, and this takes the heat from the air in the house, thus heating the pool water and cooling the air in the house.
